Spoiler-Free Avengers: Infinity War Rating

It's all led up to this, and suffice it to say, I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. As I expected, it was big and long, but Marvel did a very good job pacing it. However, my big problems are with story decisions I felt were inconsistent with previous character development in prior movies and the context of this one alone, and I genuinely feel Marvel used too heavy a hand for this one. Also, they did some similar image altering to the trailer for parts of this movie, the specifics of which I shall not go into for spoiler reasons, but suffice it to say, I'm not going to sycophantically kiss Marvel's ass, but I will say it was a fun time at the movies, I recommend it in IMAX if you can see it that way.

Hacksaw Ridge Rating

Not having gotten around to seeing this in theaters is why I created my system for R rated movies. Anyway, it is a top notch movie that shows the power of faith and love, with a slow start and a few bits that could have been trimmed to tighten it up. However, fair warning: the second half is not for the faint-of-heart.

Thor: Ragnarok

Marvel really crossed the line with the humor this time. Aside from a sudden shift in the franchise tone, Thor: Ragnarok is a fun movie to prep for Infinity War with, so Ragnarok to Mark Mothersbaugh's cool soundtrack and remember: Marvel fandom is not a place, it is a people.

Patriot's Day Rating

A perfect, patriotic movie that's down-to-Earth and respectful to the real life events it is based on. Whether you're from the Boston area, like me, or not, this movie is a must-watch because of the way it is portrayed, and it makes me proud to be a New Englander.
